The International Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (IESCO) strengthened its commitment to academic development by signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Academy of Islamic Studies at the University of Malaya (APIUM) on Thursday, 20 November 2025.

The ceremony, held at the university, gathered senior representatives from both institutions, signalling the start of a strategic collaboration in education, research, and student support.

Strengthening Academic Cooperation

IESCO’s CEO, Mr. Ayman Hussein, led the organization’s delegation, while APIUM was represented by its Dean, Professor Dr. Mohd Fauzi Hamat, accompanied by members of the faculty’s leadership council.

The LOI outlines areas of cooperation that include:

  • Joint academic and research initiatives
  • Development and support of postgraduate students
  • Opportunities for scholarly exchange
  • Shared programs that contribute to community and educational development

Both sides expressed optimism that the partnership would create long-term benefits for students and researchers.

Student Grant Announcement

During the ceremony, IESCO formally announced and presented an educational grant to support one student pursuing higher education. The grant reflects IESCO’s broader mission to assist learners affected by crises and to expand access to quality education.

A symbolic mock cheque was handed over following the signing, marking a meaningful moment for the student and both institutions.

Shared Vision for the Future

In their remarks, the Dean of APIUM and the IESCO Director highlighted the importance of nurturing young scholars and investing in educational pathways that build future leaders.

This partnership represents a significant step toward enhancing academic cooperation, developing impactful research, and providing opportunities for students who face financial and social challenges.

IESCO reaffirmed its continued commitment to supporting students, empowering communities, and forming strong academic partnerships within Malaysia and beyond.
